If you don't care about what do I have to say and just want to know how well it's running - (without sound), (with sound) and (with sound & music). This video was moved from a different (removed) account - originally uploaded at December 30th, 2012. The tutorial: (It's for half-life, but the procedure is the same, you just copy aoe1 onto the image instead of half-life). All the files you need are linked in the tutorial. If you are lazy, you can just download the image that was provided by the author of the tutorial, delete Half-Life folder and copy AoE there instead (with powerISO or another software that can read/write.img files).
I will not provide the image I use as that would mean sharing unauthorized copies of the game, you will have to get AoE1 yourself (legally or otherwise.). Alternative to running this in dosbox turbo is Bochs or Qemu (but I think that dosbox turbo is is the best choice since Bochs is extremely slow and Qemu is pretty unstable).

The device used is nexus 7, it's using motley kernel, performance governor and it is overclocked to 1,6 GHz (heats up a little, but not too bad - CPU temperature spikes between 60 - 65°C at room temperature). The battery drains pretty fast with this configuration (cca 4-5 hours from 100% to 0% - very rough estimate, I never actually tested it.).
The game speed is set to 'fast' in the game. The dosbox settings I use with this nexus 7 configuration are: memsize=32 frameskip=2 CPUtype=auto core=dynamic cycles=23000 The cycles and frameskip are going to be different for each device. Just don't set the cycles to max, because it's slower then fixed value (just find the optimal value by trial and error) Though tegra 3 is quite capable, it's definitely not the best CPU around - I'm curious how well it would run on more capable devices - if you have one please post your experience with it in the comments.
